This is my pastel box that I use on a daily basis when I’m painting. It is a Heilman box, which is the best pastel box made, in my opinion. As do most pastelists, I think it’s important to arrange pastels in a logical order. This box has six sections, so I have set up the sections as reds, oranges, yellows (and browns), greens, blues and purples. The darkest values are at the top and the lightest at the bottom. As Hurricane Irene skirts by us today, this becomes a perfect day to paint inside with no beautiful weather distractions. The website is pretty much finished except for a new logo which should appear early next week.
Painting with pastels is what I know best, so my blog entries will focus on various aspects of making art with pastels. My first entry, maybe later today, will be about the pastels themselves. I made a lot of progress on the site this weekend, but still a ways to go. I’m going to need some help doing some things, so it make take a little while. I took a break today to go see Harry Potter in IMAX 3D. Whoo-eee! Action packed.
